Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia intends to award a cost reimbursement type contract to a qualified offeror for the project entitled ?Modeling the HIV Epidemic in the United States and the Potential Impact of HIV Vaccines and Other Biomedical and Behavioral Interventions.? The project shall consist of one mandatory component: Development of a mathematical model based on U.S. HIV surveillance data to illustrate the HIV epidemic and to forecast trends in the epidemic; and one optional component: Estimate the economic effects of HIV vaccination in the U.S. from a societal perspective. Although offerors are encouraged to address both components through the formation of a multi-disciplinary team familiar with the subject areas listed, offerors may apply for only the first component. However, should the offeror opt not to conduct the second component, the offeror may be asked to collaborate with researchers in conducting an integrated economic analysis. The Contractor will develop mathematical models projecting the course of the HIV epidemic in the United States such that these models can be used to explore the economic, behavioral, and operational issues related to the use of HIV vaccines or varying efficacy and a variety of other public health interventions. Information obtained from these models will assist public health officials to develop strategies and guidelines for the implementation of domestic HIV programs. The date specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 30 days after the solicitation issue date, on or about 06/15/2003. The performance period under this contract will be two years from date of contract award. All responsible offers may submit a proposal, that will be considered by the agency. The NAICS Code is 541710. See Numbered Note 26. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be made available; however, the solicitation will be available for retrieval at www.fedbizopps.gov. Telephonic requests will not be accepted. It will be the responsibility of offerors to monitor the above website for additional postings regarding this solicitation.
