Description
Bechtel BWXT of Idaho Inc., LLC (BBWI), P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805 Contact Mr. Gary W. Smith. Potential technology development and licensing opportunity with BBWI, the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI is soliciting a written indication of interest from industry partners interested in entering into a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) and an opportunity to negotiate a non-exclusive license agreement for commercializing this technology. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BBWI or the DOE. This solicitation for expressions of interest will close to response 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send a description of their company to: Gary W. Smith, Sr. Account Executive, Technology Transfer and Commercialization, BBWI, P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. E-mail is smitgw@inel.gov. A description of the technology follows. Environmental contamination has occurred throughout the world as a result various operations. For example, waste disposal at the INEEL and other DOE sites requires environmental remediation. One option is to contain this contamination. However, containment techniques for subsurface contamination have not been adequately demonstrated to satisfy regulatory concerns. INEEL has developed an advanced subsurface containment system. This system requires micro-tunneling capabilities not found within DOE. Geological, hydrological and operation constraints need to be refined for system implementation. INEEL is seeking partners with micro-tunneling experience in hard rock geology including granite, basalt, cobbles, rubble and sand filled fissures. INEEL desires to enter into a CRADA with an industrial partner in order to further refine operations constraints and the installation tooling. Contact: Mr Gary Smith smitgw@inel.gov
