- Description
- The Department of Energy (DOE) intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to Smiths Detection under 41USC 252(c)(1) one responsible source. The award will be for extended warranty coverage for (5) Sabre 2000 and (2) IONSCAN Model 400B Units. The equipment is used for detecting explosives and their components. The expected warranty period will be from May 2003 to November 2003 with an option period from November 2003 to November 2004. This is a notice of intent to award sole-source and is not a request for competitive proposals. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates the firm's ability to provide an equivalent item, as described above. Interested parties must provide a price proposal and rationale as to why they should be considered. All interested firms must respond by 5:00p.m. EST, within ten (10) calendar days of this notice to: Timothy Jackson, ME-641.2, 1000 Independence Avenue, S.W. Washington, DC 20585. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed commercial item contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
