Description

The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA, is soliciting proposals to procure, on an other than full and open competition basis, a maximum quantity of 380 Standoff Land Attack Missile, Expanded Response (SLAM-ER), titanium warhead casings under an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) fixed price contract. The contract will be issued to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Defense Research Inc. (GD OTS), Anniston, AL. GD OTS is the only qualified source for SLAM ER warhead casings. The contractor will build the casings to a Government drawing on a fixed price basis. Each warhead casing will be fabricated from three titanium forgings that are electron-beam welded together into an assembly. This assembly will be machined to drawing requirements. The finished warhead casings are around 41 inches long by 14 inches in diameter. The contract will contain an Economic Price Adjustment clause for titanium pricing. The minimum quantity associated with this contract is 20 warheads casings. Award is anticipated in October 2003 and delivery of the casings under the first Order will be due in 2004. The Request for Proposal will be issued on or about May 29, 2003, and will be available through the Contract Competency homepage Web site at: https://contracts.nawcwd.navy.mil/rfp-nawc.htm. Responses to this intent to solicit, other than from the source listed, will be required to submit information in writing to verify their prior experience in machining large titanium forgings and electron beam welding that meet stringent tolerances.
