Description
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) anticipates a 15-month extension (July 1, 2003 ? September 30, 2004) of an existing contract, with an additional 9-month option period, to continue support for the Debt Collection Services System (previously referred to as the Federal Family Education Loan System (FFEL/DCSS), a major system supporting the Federal Student Aid Program. The name and address of the current contractor is: Raytheon E-Systems, 7700 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church, VA 22042. This contract is an integral part of a larger set of automated systems serving the student loan program. ED is currently in the process of modernizing the entire student assistance program, but the magnitude of the project has prevented completion. ED is preparing an acquisition that combines some of the related systems supporting student assistance, institutions, and other customers, that will be the subject of a separate FEDBIZZOPPS publication within the next week. The debt management services provided under the current contract with Raytheon E-Systems (contract number PM 92001001) will be merged in the acquisition, but in the interim it is essential that the services be continued to avoid serious disruption in the assistance to students and institutions. No solicitation is available. Interested parties should submit a capability statement on or before June 4, 2003 to the following address: U.S. Department of Education, Acquisitions & Contracts Performance, 830 First Street NE, Suite 033F2, Washington, DC 20202 Attention: Carolyn Dickens.
