Description
NA US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to procure services to provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials, permits, supervision and any other resources necessary for the Lake Okeechobee and Okeechobee Waterway Aquatic Plant Managemen t Program. The project area will include Lake Okeechobee, the Okeechobee Waterway and associated tributaries. The main goal of the program is to achieve and sustain maintenance control of floating target vegetation within the project area. The main floa ting vegetation targeted for control will be water hyacinth and water lettuce. Tussock material will be controlled when threatening navigation and water control structures. Control of native species and hydrilla are of secondary importance to the overall program and will only be treated when threatening navigation or water control structures. Exotic tree species will also be treated as determined by the COR. The control of exotic tree species may include, but is not limited to melaleuca, Brazilian peppe r and Australian pine. Various control methods such as chemical treatment and mechanical removal may be utilized to manage the Aquatic Plant Management Program. Award will be for a cost-plus-award-fee contract with performance commencing 1 Oct 03 and end ing 30 Sep 04 with four option years. RFP DACW17-03-R-0015 will be issued on or about 1 May 03 with proposals due on or about 20 Jun 03. RFP will be issued in electronic format only. Interested offerors must register electronically.
