Description
1.A site visit was conducted on subject solicitation on 15 Apr at 1400 in the Education Center. 2.The following describes the room as noted by the contractors. The ceiling is approximately 9 feet high and is comprised of 2 foot by 4 foot hanging ceiling tiles with approximately 24 inches clearance above. The room is approximately 32 feet by 20 feet with carpeted floors and fluorescent tube lighting. The air conditioning unit makes no noticeable noise. 3.Mr. Hutchins, 14 CS, provided the following information to the contractors. The system will be run on a T-1 line, which will be installed on or about 15 May 2003. System ties into all Mississippi colleges and must have the capability for the instructor to transmit instruction from this site. The contractor will recommend setup of the room. The preference for the monitors is to be placed on moveable carts. 4.The following questions were asked by the contractors: a.Would the base be interested in purchasing some of the less technical equipment, monitors and VCR, separate of this solicitation. Answer. No, we need to have a turnkey operation. Once the contractor is finished we should have a fully operational system. b.What is the preference for the microphones? The norm for the MIVN system is push to talk table microphones versus hanging microphones. c.Can the equipment be drop shipped to the base? Yes, the base will receive and hold the equipment for the contractor. Government acceptance occurs only after installation is complete. The shipping address is: 14 CS/SCX, Attn: Mr. Chester Hutchins, 151 E Street, Columbus AFB, MS 39710-9101. d.Is there a preference between a VCR or CD for recording? Yes, a VCR is required. The purpose of the recording capability is to provide the instruction to student who may have missed the class. e.How many individuals from the base will require training? At a minimum four, one from the Communication Squadron and three from the Education Center. f.Will the contractor have uninterrupted access to the classroom for the estimated 4 ? 5 day installation period. Yes, the classroom will be set aside for installation. Normal hours of operation on base are 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. g.Is security of the system a concern? Yes, the contractor may recommend a lockable box or cabinet for the system. h.Is the award criteria price alone? No. Price is a factor, but assured connectivity to the MIVN system is equally as important. A technical representative from Mississippi State University will aid in the evaluation of the bids to ensure connectivity with the existing system.
