Description
The FAA has determined this project to be an SEDB 8(a) set-aside. Th= e FAA is seeking qualified SEDB 8(a) contractors to perform the following s= ite preparation work for installation of security equipment and related sys= tems at the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center, Aurora, Illinois cons= isting of: 1)Modifications to the main site entrance including new pavemen= t, curbs, gutters, pavement markings, sidewalks, ramps, and the addition of= thirty-one (31) visitors parking spaces; 2)Replacement of the guardhouse a= nd modification to the surrounding area to support the installation of elec= tronic security equipment, including installation of swing gates, barrier a= rms and card readers and telecom system; 3)Installation of new lift station= and sewer manhole for the new guardhouse; 4)Installation of new electrical= connections from the Administration Wing Basement to the Medical Trailer, = and from the F&E Building to the NARACS antenna; 5)Replacement of perimeter= site fence with new security fence and gates and installation of wood post= guardrails at the west fence line; 6)Installation of security fence and ga= tes at antenna towers and at gas meter; 7)Installation of locks to secure m= anholes and catch basins; 8)Installation of security bars and grating on ex= terior access points to the facility buildings; and , 9)Installation of und= erground cable/conduit runs, junction boxes, and receptacles for signal and= power connecting the Guardhouse, the security equipment in the Head End Ar= ea in the Control Room, Badging Workstation and the remote security equipme= nt (including access control devices, lights and cameras). Offer range is = between $990,000 to $1,500,000 with a performance time of approximately 150= calendar days. Construction start is anticipated for Summer 2003. SIR application is to be filled o= ut and returned to evaluate the applicants relevant and current past perfo= rmance history. REQUESTS FOR THE SIR APPLICATION PACKAGE WILL BE ACCEPTED ON OR BE= FORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS APRIL 25, 2003. Interested firms MUST SPECIFY THEIR = EMAIL ADDRESS IN THEIR REQUEST. Upon completion of evaluation process, onl= y those firms determined to be qualified will be sent a Request for Offer (= RFO). The RFO is anticipated to be available by June 2003. Bonding will be= required in the amounts as follows: 100% Performance Bond and 50% Payment= Bond. =20 For informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Busi= ness Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small a= nd Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has programs to assist small busines= ses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically d= isadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire capital and b= onding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable= to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assista= nce rogram enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 m= illion per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond a= mount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT S= hort Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide account= s receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
