Description
NA TACOM-Rock Island is soliciting information from industry to determine sources with capability to convert M1 Rifles to the ceremonial configuration. This means completing an inspection/screening and minor alterations, adding a blank firing adapter, and te st firing the weapon to ensure physical integrity. A secondary interest is to screen M1 Garands inducted into the program to determine which assets are suited to this conversion and which should be retained for the Civilian marksmanship Program (CMP), the Ceremonial Rifle Program (CRP), and ROTC. Those rifles meeting the criteria for ceremonial and drill rifles will be converted according to a scope of work (SOW). The weapons that meet criteria for other categories will be held for appropriate dispositio n. The Government anticipates award of a 5-year repair type contract for an estimated quantity of 10,000 to 15,000 ceremonial rifles. The prospective contractor will be required to store up to 15,000 weapons. The US Army will provide M1 Garands for conv ersion to ceremonial and drill rifle configuration. The conversion process will include disassembly/reassembly, precision measurements, welding, visual inspection, and some touch up. This is a market survey announcement for informational planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposals or Invitation for Bids nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
