Description
The Colorado River Bridge, the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass Project, is tentatively scheduled for advertising in late 2003. This advanced notice is being given to present the scope of work, basic configuration, site constraints, general commercial conditions and design concept for general contractors and potential bidders. An industry outreach session is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th, 2003 that will include a presentation and question and answer period in the morning, and a site visit in the afternoon. Transportation to the site will be provided. Potential bidders should meet at 9:30 a.m. local time at the Hotel San Remo in Las Vegas, NV. The Hoover Dam Bypass Project is managed and administered directly by the Central Federal Lands Division of the Federal Highway Administration. CFLHD leads a joint stakeholder team consisting of numerous agencies participate in the overall guidance of the project. The Colorado River Bridge will facilitate the realignment of US 93 and will span the Colorado River approximately 1,500 feet downstream of Hoover Dam, connecting Clark County, NV and Mohave County, AZ. The project will encompass all aspects of the construction of this transportation facility, as well as relative minor approach roadway work. Major bid items include (approximate): 50,500 yd3 structure excavation (various), 2,500 yd3 structural backfill, 37,000 LF rock anchors, 10,000 ft2 wire mesh fence for boulder containment, 500 each rock bolts, 4,000 yd3 structural concrete skewbacks, 2,500 yd3 structural concrete footings and abutments, 596,000 lb reinforcing steel skewbacks – footings – abutments, column option (CIP or PC) – 2,500 yd3 structural concrete (CIP) and 696,500 lb reinforcing steel (CIP) or 2,500 yd3 furnish precast segments (PC) and 1 LPSM erect precast segments (PC) and 276,000 lb reinforcing steel (PC) and 259,000 lb post tensioning bars columns (PC), 2,000 yd3 structural concrete R/C caps, 393,000 lb reinforcing steel R/C caps, 81,000 lb post tensioning strand R/C caps, 40,000 lb post tensioning bars R/C caps, 8,000 yd3 structural concrete arch, 2,647,000 lb reinforcing steel arch, 798,000 lb structural steel furnish arch struts, 798,000 lb structural steel erect arch struts, 103,000 lb post tensioning bars arch struts, spandrel option (CIP or PC) – 4,000 yd3 structural concrete (CIP) and 1,084,000 lb reinforcing steel (CIP) or 4,000 yd3 furnish precast segments (PC) and 1 LPSM erect precast segments (PC) and 430,000 lb reinforcing steel (PC) and 425,000 lb post tensioning bars (PC), 50,000 lb post tensioning CIP cap connections, 380,500 ft2 painting concrete structures, 24 each bearings, cap option (steel or concrete) -1,353,000 lb structural steel furnish steel caps and 1,353,000 lb structural steel erect steel caps and 77,500 lb post tensioning bars steel caps and 5,116,000 lb structural steel furnish fab boxes and 5,116,000 lb structural steel erect boxes or 952,000 lb structural steel furnish concrete caps and 952,000 lb structural steel erect concrete caps, 5,500 yd3 structural concrete deck, 1,389,000 lb reinforcing steel deck, 2000 ft median barrier; along with associated survey, staking, contractor testing, and traffic control. Final plans WILL NOT be available at the industry outreach session. However, a summary overview of the draft 60% plans, specifications, and other information will be available for viewing and downloading by May 1st at the project website www.hooverdambypass.org under the Bidders tab. Those planning to attend MUST notify the contact person listed above no later than May 13th. Attendance at the industry outreach session is not mandatory to bid the project, however attendance is advised.
