- Description
- Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Prime Contractor, is seeking a qualified firm to purchase and remove from PPPL?s CS Building, James Forrestal Campus, Route No. 1 north, Plainsboro, NJ, its Princeton Beta Experiment (PBX) device and other equipment located in the PBX facility. The PBX device, made of stainless steel and copper, weighs about 212 tons. It is neither activated nor contaminated. The calculated weight of the copper coils is 95 tons. There are about 3 tons of insulating compound and epoxy, and the remainder of the weight is type 304 stainless steel. Site preparation, including de-energization, lockout and tagout of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as disconnection of all systems from PBX, has been completed. The method of disassembly of the PBX is at the option of the buyer, but must not jeopardize the building or other equipment/systems in the building. PPPL desires the on-site removal be completed during the June - July 2003 time period. This announcement is not an RFP. RFP 03-039F for this work will be issued Monday 14 April, 2003. A Pre-Proposal Conference will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday 22 April 2003 at a location announced in the RFP. Proposals will be due Friday 2 May 2003.
