- Description
- The Government intends to award, via full and open competition, a firm fixed price contract to procure a 2,500-shaft horsepower growth turbine engine for the MH-60 helicopter fleet. The desire is to insert a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) engine with a Civil Certification or Military Qualification that will ?drop in? the current airframe with minimal modification to structure. The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment(A) MH-60 helicopters require improved and upgraded engines to meet expanding mission requirements when operating in harsh environments. Key characteristics of the new engine include:(1) The new engines shall have improved power reserves over current engines (2) The upgraded engines shall be capable of meeting mission power requirements in hot weather at high altitude (3) The engines shall also provide improved fuel economy over current engines (4) Engines and accessories shall be modular, fault tolerant, and capable of accepting future upgrades (5) Maintenance requirements shall be minimal. An Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract award is anticipated by January 2004; minimum quantity 7 each with a maximum quantity of 149 each. Deliveries to Stratford, CT and/or Ft. Campbell, KY. The Government does not own the specifications and drawings to permit full and open competition. Firms that recognize and can produce the required item described above are encouraged to identify themselves to the contracting office who can provide additional information.
