- Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) for the National Marine Fisheries Service/SW Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC). Purpose of proposed contract is to survey substrate using a multi-beam sonar that consists of a Reson 8101 with sidescan sonar option used in conjunction with a Triton-Elics Isis System for data logging and sonar control, along with a Delphmap and BathyPro software for real-time side-scan mosaicing and to generate digital elevation models. Contractor will process multi-beam data with CARIS HIPS software, and all final GIS products derived from shoal-biased data. Final product is a high-resolution geo-referenced bathymetric map of offshore bank provided on a daily basis for ROV navigation. Final maps corrected for sound velocity, cross track error and tidal elevation provided within six months of the end of the cruise. Proposed contractor performed similar surveys last year. Same contractor and equipment will result in turnkey operation and will prevent loss of ship time in port. Any other contractor would need to adapt its equipment to the NOAAS R/V David Starr Jordan. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
