- Description
- The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport plans to award a sole source purchase order to Brantner & Associates, Inc. of El Cajon, CA for 2 each Wideband Multimode Sensor (WMS) Sail and Keel Cables. The WMS is a specialized hydrophone employing multimode type acoustics with specialized hybrid cable. The design, fabrication, and testing of this hybrid electro-optical cable requires very specialized knowledge and equipment. Brantner & Associates, Inc. proptotyped this cable and in the process developed the specialized fabrication and process techniques for it?s construction. Their Navy approved specialized jigs, tools, and fixtures are required for building this cable. No other known company possesses a Navy approved facility to build this type of hybrid cable. This is a sole source acquisition authorized under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Any company that believes it has the capability to meet the Government's minimum specifications may submit a proposal which must contain technical and cost data which shall be reviewed by the Government.
