Description
The National Cancer Institute(NCI), Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), Surveillance Research Program (SRP), intends to neter into a sole source contrct with the Internatinal Association of Cancer Registries, 150 Cours Albert-Thomas 69372, Lyon Dedex 08 France. The IACR is holding its 25th Annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 16-18, 2003. The theme of this year's meeting is "Cancer Registration and Surveillance, Around the World.",Major topics to be covered include Physical Activity, Diet, Migrants, Pacific Islanders & Indigenous Populations. Rare Cancers, Human Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer, and Data Harmonization, especially concerining Multiple Primaries and Dta Analysis.Specifically, this will include discussion and possible clarification of methodologies for ascertaining and tabulating multiple primary cancers and the impact that various methodologies may have on the comparability of international cancer data and statistics; topics of significant impact and concern to multiple populations with updates on Physical Activity and Cancer; Cancer and Diet; Cancer in Migrants; Cancer in Pacific Islanders and Indigenous Populations; and the study of Rare Cancers. Approximately 250 participants including cancer registry directors and personnel, epidemiologists and physicians working in the field of cancer control worldwide will attend this meeting. Experts worldwide will address ongoing surveillance efforts among population-based cancer registries. The International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) was founded in 1966, as a professional society dedicated to fostering the aims and activities of cancer registries worldwide, and is uniquely qualified to perform the ncessary services. Registries play an important role in research into the cause of cancer, both by providing data on patterns and trends, and in different types of epidemiological study. The IACR is the only source known to the government that can provide the above requirements specified. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statements and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the Government needs. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office no later than April 7, 2003. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253(1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The requirement will be procured as a non-commercial item in accordance with FAR Part 13. If you have any questions, please contact Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent (301) 402-4509.
