Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting a national building and fire safety investigation of the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster. More information about NIST's investigation may be found at the NIST Web site http://wtc.nist.gov. This solicitation will contribute to completion of the objectives of Project 6, Structural Fire Response and Collapse. Specific information for Project 6, may be found by following this link to the NIST Web site http://wtc.nist.gov/media/WTCplan_new.htm#proj6. The objective of this solicitation is to carry out fire endurance testing of a typical floor system and individual steel members under the fire conditions prescribed in ASTM E119. The scope of work will include: 1) Development of Test Plan - design the test specimen to the size of the offeror's furnace; 2) Preparation of Test Assembly - carry out the fabrication of test assembly to include composite floor system and individual steel members; and 3) Conduct of Fire Test - The fire endurance testing of the floor assembly shall be conducted in accordance with the ASTM Standard E119. Details of this requirement will be provided in the solicitation. The requirement will be for a period of six (6) months. Award of a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) commercial Purchase Order is anticipated. FAR Part 13.5 "Test Program for Certain Commercial Items" will apply to this requirement. It is anticipated that a single solicitation will be issued on or about March 25, 2003 at www.fedbizopps.gov. The solicitation, all amendments and any questions and answers to the solicitation will be posted to FEDBIZOPPS and are totally the responsibility of the Offeror. No mailing lists will be kept and no hard copy of the RFQ will be available.
