Description
The US Geological Survey requires electronic engineering services to repair, modify, calibrate, and perform quality control checks on various types of seismic instrumentation. The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Don Ritchey and Company, Sunnyvale, CA, the only known source with the skills and experience to provide replacement equipment as needed immediately upon award of the contract. The instruments are used in the Northern California Seismic Network, a telemetered network of more than 400 short-period seismograph stations. Instruments include, but are not limited to, VCO/AMPS, discriminators, dc-dc converters, solar panels, digital seismic event recorders, summing amps, lightning arrestors, transmission lines, seismometer cables, antennas, and inter-connecting cables. VCO/AMP types presently deployed in the field include J312D, J412H, J512A, J512B, and J512M. Most components of the system were designed by the USGS. Contractor will assist in testing digital seismic instrumentation and constructing cabling for use at digital seismic recorder sites. The USGS requires 95% operational capability to meet its real-time earthquake emergency hazard reporting requirements. The Government will provide facilities in Menlo Park, CA, and all materials, tools, utilities and test equipment. Anticipated contract type firm fixed price. Anticipated performance period one year. Interested parties should reply in writing within 15 days of publication of this notice, clearly stating your ability to meet the above-stated requirements. Fax responses to attn of Phyllis Michel, Contracting Officer, at (650) 329-5480, or send email to pmichel@usgs.gov. See Notes 22 and 26.
