Description
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS ONLY FOR 8(a) CERTIFIED AND/OR SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED CONTRACTORS. The Federal Aviation Administration is updating the Qualified Vedors List (QVL) to perform several upcoming Sustaining Back-Up Emergency Communications (S-BUEC) projects within the Great Lakes Region. A sample of the scope of work consists of the following: 1) Install tilt-down pole, bullhorn antenna mount and winch; 2) Install underground RF and aerial cables; 3) Install lightning protection system; and 4) Miscellaneous civil and electrical tasks. Some locations require construction of shelter buildings. Project requirements may be compiled together when within close proximity. Some requirements may be set-aside for only SEDB and/or 8(a) participation. Interested firms are requested to submit a letter of interest to the stated Contracting Officer. Firms who have not successfully performed work for the Great Lakes Region within the last year will be required to fill out and return a Screening Information Request application. Those firms who have successfully completed a project for the Great Lakes Region shall state in their letter the project completed and the contract number. Information obtained from the SIR will be utilized in determining the firms that are most qualified to perform on these types of constructions projects and will be added to the QVL. Factors for evaluation include relevant experience, project/cost control, key personnel, business practices, and financial capability. The application will request firms to identify the location(s) at which they wish to perform. The construction cost per project is estimated to be between $25,000.00 and $100,000.00. Interested firms should request a pre-qualification Screening Information Request application via letter or fax at 847/294-7801. No telephone requests will be accepted. REQUESTS FOR THE SIR APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED ON OR BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS MARCH 21, 2003. Firms who return the SIR application will be notified in writing of their status. Requests for Offers are anticipated to be available by April 2003 with anticipated Spring 2003 construction start dates. This Notice is for information purposed for Minortiy, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterpirses: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has a program to assist small businesses, including those owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.00.
