Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a known requirement for a contractor to provide medical testing services for SSA employees exposed to asbestos concentrations. Services shall be performed ON-SITE at a self-contained MOBILE UNIT at the SSA Headquarters' facility in Woodlawn, MD when ten (10) or more employees are to be examined. If ten or less employees are to be examined, the employee(s) may visit the contractors site upon a one-week notification from the SSA. If Government employees are required to leave the SSA premises, the examinations shall be provided at a site located no more than a 25-mile radius from the SSA facility. Examinations are required for SSA employees exposed to asbestos concentrations at or above 0.1 fiber per cubic centimeter of air calculated as an 8-hour time weighted average for 30 or more days per year, or at the excursion level of 1f/cc averaged over a 30 minute period, or who are required, under the provision of the Occupational Health and Safety Division (OSHA) standard 29 CFR 1926.1101 to wear negative pressure respirators. Under OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.134, SSA employees who wear respirators for protection against chemical contaminants must also be determined medically fit to wear a respirator by a physician. Competitive pricing will be solicited and accepted. SSA anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price, indefinite-quantity contract with a period of performance consisting of a base year and provisions an additional four one-year option periods. The North American Industry Classification System code for this requirement is 621512 and the size standard for this code is $11.5M. The acquisition is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 regarding the acquisition of commercial items. The RFQ will be available for downloading on or about April 14, 2003 from the Federal Procurement website at www.fedbizopops.gov. HARD COPIES OF THE RFQ WILL NOT BE MAILED. See numbered Note 1. Offers received from other than small business sources will not be considered.
