- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC Crane) is requesting information on sources capable of providing a Self-Contained Missile Seeker Head Cooling System for the Stinger Missile in the Avenger Weapon System (AWS). The Cooling System shall supply cooling gas or air to the seeker head section of the Stinger Missile used in the AWS. The current system uses argon gas. This market survey is open to all companies, foreign and domestic, and is open for 30 days from date of release. The cooling system shall fit within the current SVML/SVUL launcher structure used by the AWS and shall meet the cooling performance requirements for the Stinger Missile. In addition to meeting the performance requirements for the Stinger Missile, the cooling system shall also meet the operational environmental requirements for the AWS. A new system is being sought to increase readiness and reduce the logistics burden on the AWS by removing the need for argon gas. Abstracts shall include a brief system-level description and system/subsystem performance characteristics. Responses to this Request For Information are required by 5 April 2003.
