Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI). The information received will be used in assessing the availability of an air carrier to move approximately 40,000 pounds of cargo via contractor furnished, IFR-equipped, multi-engine aircraft capable of operating to and from gravel airfields. The contractor shall transport cargo between Elmendorf AFB AK and various points on main land Alaska that will vary from 194 to 771 one-way miles. Aircraft utilized must be 463L pallet capable, accommodate cargo up to 108 inches high by 120 inches wide, must have truck bed height straight loading capability and have drive-on drive-off capability for various vehicles up to 30,000 pounds. Some of the Alaska locations will require less than 40,000 pounds of cargo to be delivered. Please provide the following information and any other information you think might be helpful in the acquisition of this air transportation: a) Type of aircraft with capabilities (speed, range, etc.) b) Cargo capability c) Estimated price (or price range) per mile d) Capability to land and take-off from 5,000-foot gravel runways e) Are you a DOD approved carrier? f) Large or small business? G) Response time needed for a mission. This agency has not made a final commitment to procure the stated requirement and this RFI should not be construed as a commitment or authorization to incur costs in anticipation of such procurement. This agency is interested in obtaining responses to this RFI from prospective contractors but no contractor shall be reimbursed for providing this information; therefore, the Air Force will accept the requested information in whatever format it is provided. All information provided by the contractor will become property of the Air Force and will not be returned. Responses are requested by 17 Mar and should include a point of contact, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address. The applicable North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) is 481212. Anticipated period of performance is 1 Oct 03 through 30 Sep 04 with four 12-month option periods.
