The Rapid Parking Ramp Expansion (RPRE) primary goals are to provide a faster, more transportable means for rapidly expanding parking aprons and taxiways at expeditionary airfields worldwide, and to provide a more expedient method to improve weak soils when appropriate. The objective is to find the best methods and techniques to field recent developments in soil stabilization technology and develop a lightweight airfield mat that is significantly lighter, leaner, and requires less setup time than the current AM-2 Mats or combination of both. Please refer to the System Performance Specification (SPS) and the Statement of Objectives (SOO) for details outlining the performance parameters. The intent of this procurement will be to design, develop, produce, and support a replacement for the AM-2 Matting using methods and techniques to implement existing rapid soil stabilization technology or development of a new lightweight airfield mat, or a combination of both. It will be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP), contract awarded on a ?Performance? basis. The Synopsis/Solicitation release date is projected to be in late May 03 and will be released through CBD announcement, and by electronic posting to <http://www.eps.gov>. Program information will be placed on the Internet as it becomes available, to include the synopsis/solicitation, test plan with methodology, and evaluation criteria. The Government reserves the right to conduct a Pre-Award survey to include production facility site visits to verify manufacturing capability.
