Description
The Division of General Scientific Support, Office of Scientific Analysis and Support, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition of the Food and Drug Administration (hereafter referred to as DGSS) has a requirement for a contractor with the technical capabilities to provide pathology support services to evaluate materials derived from toxicological experimental studies. The contractor will be expected to produce histopathologic preparations for examination, microscopically examine them and prepare comprehensive pathology reports of the pathologic findings. The contractor will also be expected to provide services to the DGSS in specialized areas as requested, to include gross necropsy of animals (mostly rodents), consultative services for diagnostic electron microscopy as it relates to toxicologic pathology, and the services of an on-site biologist to help in the pathology laboratory when needed. In addition, the contractor will be expected to provide the facilities and expertise to house and maintain the Pathology Archives that will include wet tissues, paraffin blocks, slides and data files. The contractor must maintain an office within the Washington, D.C. geographical area. The facility will have to be in complete compliance with the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements. This requirement is designated as a full and open competition under NAICS code 541710 with a size standard of 500 employees. The solicitation will be available on or about March 20, 2003, on the FedBizOpps website at www.fedbizopps.gov. Prospective offerors are responsible for downloading the solicitation and amendments. It is the offeror?s responsibility to monitor the FedBizOpps website for the release of the solicitation and amendments. Hard copies will be provided to individuals eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act upon request.
