Description
DUAL L-BAND ANTENNA PR: FD2020-03-20190 Item NSN: 5895-NCE516066 Part #: MPSF62R-1227.6-1575.4-HT-R26 Total Qty: 30 The anticipated award date will be: 30 Sept 2003. This announcement constitutes a sources sought synopsis. The following information is provided to do a market survey of industry to see if there are any potential contractors who have the skills and knowledge required to complete this effort. Scope: The dual L-band antenna that will be used on the Mod 7 Instrumentation Wafer is designed and built by the Electromagnetic Systems Branch at the Physical Science Laboratory (PSL). The antennas are designed to fit the curve of the MM III rocket profile, and receive the L1 (1575.42 MHz) and L2 (1227.6 MHz) frequencies transmitted from the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The basic microstrip patch antenna radome cover has been modified to be a thicker material, and is more heat resistant than their standard line of antennas. All antennas in the 2220 MHz region are manufactured from the same artwork, but are tuned to meet the Government requirements. Use: The antenna will be part of the GPS tracking system used by the Western Range to track the MM III Force Development and Evaluation (FDE) flight test flown from Vandenberg AFB. This antenna is used for real time location of the missile from lift-off until NS-50 computer shut down. These parts must be acquired from a manufacturing sources(s) specified on a source control or selected item drawing as defined by the current version of DoD-STD-100. Suitable technical data, government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge are not available to permit acquisition from other sources nor qualification testing of another part, nor use of a second source part in the intended application. Although, by DoD-STD-100 definition, altered and selected items shall have an adequate technical data package, data review discloses that required data or data rights are not in the Government possession and cannot be economically obtained. Award will be made only if the offeror, the product/service, or the manufacturer meets qualification requirements at the time of award in accordance with FAR clause 52.209-1. The solicitation will identify the office where additional information can be obtained concerning qualification requirements. Information received will be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Electronic procedures will be used for this solicitation.
