Description
This acquisition is for the purchase of stainless steel sheets and plates for shell type gloveboxes to be used at the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF). Orders will be placed through a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) by glovebox fabricators subcontracted to DCS. The Supplier/Subcontractor shall fabricate the stainless steel sheets and (plates)in accordance with the requirements delineated in this specification, and comply with all applicable codes, standards and regulations. Unless specifically noted, the term plates is hereafter used to refer to both sheets and plates. The Supplier/Subcontractor shall also demonstrate his capacity to deliver approximately 200 metric tons of stainless steel plates of varying thickness and random size. Initial deliveries are anticipated in January 2004 with final deliveries anticipated in December 2005. Stainless steel sheet (up to 6mm thick) shall be ASTM-A-240M, type 304 or 304L, cold rolled, annealed and pickled. Stainless steel plate (over 6mm thick) shall be ASTM A-240M, type 304 or 304L, hot rolled, annealed, and pickled. Stainless steel plates marked for use outside gloveboxes shall be ASTM A-240M, type 304L, hot-rolled, annealed and pickled. All ASTM A-240M stainless steel plates shall conform to the applicable requirements of ASTM A-480M. All austenitic stainless steel shall be furnished in the solution-annealed condition. Unstablilized grades of austenitic stainless steel which are cooled from the solution annealing temperature to below 425 degrees Celsius, (800 degrees Fahrenheit), by any means other than water quenching shall meet the requirements of ASTM A-262, Practice A Figure 1 or 2, or Practice E. Test specimens shall be selected from the material that represents each heat treatment practice and each heat. Vendors are requested to visit the DCS MOX website to download the required forms. Potential Suppliers will need to download and send to DCS the following forms: Proprietary Agreement, Appendix I and Appendix II. The DCS website is www.dcsmox.com.
