- Description
- This is a Notice of Intent from the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland (NAWCAD) to contract on an other than full and open competition basis with Science and Technology International, Inc., Honolulu, HI to provide Littoral Airborne Sensor Hyperspectral (LASH) systems. This contract will continue yet-to-be defined modifications to the existing LASH system to extend present capabilities for antisubmarine warfare missions into new missions for mine countermeasures, coastal reconnaissance, environmental survey, and marine mammal mitigation. Software improvements may also be made to incorporate new target and clutter characteristics. It is anticipated that Test and evaluation support will be provided to demonstrate to Naval users the value of the LASH system under operational conditions and circumstances. The following types of research and development efforts may also be required: Design, fabricate, and test new prototypes; Provide system and exploitation software, as well as analyze results of testing; Interface LASH prototypes to military platforms; Provide testing support, maintenance, spares, and training for naval users; Provide modifications and/or upgrades, testing, and field support for existing LASH prototypes; and Produce project and system documentation. This contract will be negotiated on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 (only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements). This is not a solicitation. No RFP will be issued on the basis of this Notice of Intent. See numbered Note(s) 22
