Description
Title: Flight deck resurfacing Provide the services of a qualified contractor to perform the following work aboard USNS Mercy: 1. Remove all interferences impeding this work item?s accomplishment including all electrical components and the two forward ladder-ways. Restore all interferences upon completion of this work. Plug, seal, cover and secure vents , hull openings, deck drains, pipes, helo nets and their frames, valves, hose reels, port holes, cables, electrical components etc., that could be effected by abrasive blasting dust or paint over spray as a result of this work item. Remove all upon completion of this work item and return all services and equipment to original condition. Any components or equipment found damaged as the result of abrasive blasting will be repaired by the contractor and restored to as new condition. 2. Abrasive blast to SSPC-10 the entire flight deck including the coaming lip around the deck, forward house bulkhead (1 foot high above deck, port to stbd ). Blasting profile to be 2-4 mils. Use only centrifugal blasting equipment. No open nozzle blasting is permitted. Power tool clean to SSPC ?11 all areas inaccessible to abrasive blasting. All surfaces to be blown dry and clean with no blast residue, dust dirt, or other contaminates allowed prior to painting. Ensure no rust bloom prior to painting. MSCREP must approve surface prior to any paint application. Remove and dispose of all waste and debris generated by this work item in accordance with local, state and federal laws. 3. Apply the following primer system to the entire flight deck: one coat AMERCOAT 137 @5-6 mils DFT. 4. Apply the flowing non-skid coating to the flight deck except as follows: a four inch strip adjacent to the bulkheads, gunwales, fish plates, curbs, ship?s equipment, tie downs, sprinklers, or soft plate perimeters. One coats AMERCOAT 138 HR Non Skid(with roller) @ 30 sq ft/gal Note: Before the start of production application of any non-skid coating, a test patch will be applied. This test patch will be acceptable to the MSCREP and will stand as the texture and profile standard for the entire job. 5. Apply the following paint system for all markings: Two coats AMERCOAT 929 White @3-4 mils DFT Follow the marking instructions specified in the ship?s drawings, Shipboard aviation Facilities Resume, and a sketch made specifically from the deck prior to any surface removal. 6. Apply the following topcoat to the four inch strip and tie-downs exempt from the non-skid surface: One coat AMERCOAT 385 Dark Grey @ 5 mils DFT 7. Flight deck surface is 23000 sq-ft. 8. Recoat time between primer and nonskid is very critical. Ensure that all paint application complies with AMERON product application instructions. 9. All work accomplished shall be acceptable for NAVSEA/ASIR certification and in compliance with NSTM Chapter 634, Deck coverings. 10. While applying paint, ensure paint material temperature ranges between 70 to 90 degrees F. Ensure air and metal temperatures are within the range specified by the manufacture?s published data. 11. Ensure ambient air and surface temperature are at least 5 degrees F above the dew point and the relative humidity is not higher than 85% for all coating applications. 12. GFS: Ameron paint rep shall be present as the MSCREP to assist the contractor. GFM: AMERCOAT 138 HR Nonskid 740 gal AMERCOAT 137 primer 185 gal AMERCOAT 929 white topcoat 30 Gal AMERCOAT 385 Dark Grey 50 gal Amercon # 65 Thinner 50 gal
