- NA The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis an add-on requirement with Alliant Techsystems, Inc., PO Box 98, Magna, UT 84044. The proposed acquisition is directed to Alliant Techsystems pursuant to th e authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) (ii)(A), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The objective of this requirement is to provide expertise and support in assuring safe handling, refurbishment process ing, testing, disposal, and flight worthiness of the STARS motors, and of all associated propulsion components during launch operations. The add-on requirement consists of the procurement of five additional Castor IVB motor cases and the conversion of the motor cases into functional Castor IVB solid rocket motor assemblies. This acquisition is not open to Allied participation. See Note 22.
