- Description
- The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) requires additional data and analysis on options to reduce and avoid fishery interaction with protected species, comply with applicable statutory mandates, and ensure sustainable fisheries. Two major elements of this study will be to 1) Develop and complete a supplementary NEPA analysis for the Pelagics Fishery Management Plan (FMP) addressing evolving issues associated with seabird interactions in the fishery and 2) develop and complete a supplementary NEPA analysis for the Pelagics FMP addressing evolving issues associated with increased utilization of squid resources. These elements are required in the preparation of a comprehensive supplemental NEPA document to the March 30, 2001, Pelagics Fishery Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement. The scope of the supplemental NEPA analysis is expected to include an analysis of the impact of commercial, recreational, and subsistence fishing on the environment, including effects on seabirds and squid. A firm-fixed price contract is anticipated. The period of performance is for approximately 780 calendar days. A Request for Proposals (RFP) solicitation will be available on or about March 1, 2003, through the through Government's website at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/.
