Description
The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey is conducting a market survey to identify sources that have products and capabilities to arrive at system or subsystem materiel solutions for a 120mm mortar supportive of the US Army?s Future Combat System (FCS) requirements. The products sought include designs, prototypes, models and analyses, and test results that will be used in design, development, analyses, integration and demonstrations of a lightweight, rapid-fire, turreted 120mm mortar. Products provided should address factors such as rate of fire, accuracy, reliability, and others relevant to assessing the suitability of the system or subsystem. Specifically, information and data addressing technological areas such as mortar tube; breech; recoil/counter-recoil; ignition; automation; controls; fire control; and other subsystems the responder believes are relevant to arriving at a system solution are sought. The system and subsystem descriptions provided should include the current technology readiness level assessment and associated justification (as described in the Interim Defense Acquisition Guidebook dtd 30 October 2002). The capabilities sought include analysis, design, development, fabrication, integration, test and evaluation of proposed systems or subsystems, as well as facilities conducive to assembling breadboard and subsystem prototype hardware, electronics and/or software. In addition, information on risk assessments and risk mitigation plans; recurring and non- recurring cost for development (to include five prototypes) and production (assume 200 units over a five year period) including any royalties and license fees, contributions of the proposed system or subsystem to operational effectiveness measures, and system or subsystem specifications. This is not a request for proposals. Some, or all, of the information submitted will be shared with the FCS NLOS-M contractor for evaluation. No classified information should be submitted with this response. Proprietary information must be appropriately marked and will be safeguarded as marked. Follow-on discussions with the Government and/or the NLOS-M contractor, United Defense? Armament Systems Division, may be required to clarify response content. The preferred response format is Portable Document Format (PDF), with concepts and design solid models in an electronic format compatible with ProENGINEER. Points of Contact for all questions is David Altman, United Defense, 763- 572-6380, dave.altman@udlp.com . All requests for information and responses shall be by electronic means. No telephonic requests or responses will be accepted. See Numbered Notes 25 & 26. All responses required no later than 14 February 2003.
