- The USDA Forest Service, White Mountain National Forest, NH, is seeking to procure a Portable Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). NAICS:335999 The unit requirements are as follows: Light-weight, portable (mini) Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) to measure elasticity and bearing capacity of roads, parking lots, trails, etc. Computer-operated and micro-processor controlled Windows graphical user interface. Can be operated by one person. Device should measure the exact force and deflection by dropping a weight to the ground, from an optional height, sending a non-destructive shock-wave through the bearing soil. The reaction of the soil from this shock-wave shall be collected by up to 3 sensors, transferred to a PC (not included with Portable FWD), and bearing capacity automatically calculated by a computer-program. Software shall enable computer to display a wave-form supported by the measured data, which gives an exact value representing the soil bearing capacity, or dynamic E-modulus. Some of the preferred features: ? Adjustable falling height ? Adjustable weight ?
