- Description
- The VA has an ongoing program to furnish artificial limbs and related services to those veterans that require them and are eligible for assistance. It is VA's intention to solicit quotations and award contracts on a competitive basis to preferred providers. During fiscal years 1999-2002 the Phoenix VAMC purchased 332 new artificial legs and 7 new artificial arms. The VA established a new prosthetic-orthotic laboratory that will handle approximately 35-40% of patients. For fabrication and repair of artificial limbs, the prices quoted shall not exceed the established L-Code prices applicable to the Phoenix geographic area at the time of performance. Offerors will quote to the VA a percentage discount aginst Medicare L-Code Pricing. Contracts will be for a Base Year (3/1/03 - 2/28/04) and 4 Option Years. If the VA exercises all 4 Options the contract will terminate on 2/28/08. VA will award no more than 5 firm-fixed price contracts. All contractors shall have an ABC or BOC or VAQP prosthetist on staff at each of their locations. The contractor's facilites shall be approved by the Facility Accreditation Program of ABC or BOC or have successfully passed inspection by the VA. Contractors must have an established place of business in Maricopa County.
