Description
NA The work of this project consists of miscellaneous rehabilitation work on the navigation gates and appurtenances at the New Bedford/Fairhaven Hurricane Barrier. The gate structure has two sectors each 60 feet high and 90 feet wide. Major work features in clude installation of stop gates and dewatering of navigation gate pockets, clearing silt, sand, and debris from the base of the gates, jacking of the gates to allow wheel repairs, gate wheel repairs or replacement, repairs to the timber fender system, con crete repairs, painting of steel, and miscellaneous repairs to steel components. Repair of stop gates may also be required. Repairs requiring underwater work include cleaning of stop gate guides, metal cutting, welding of metal shapes and inspections. Work shall be completed within 270 calendar days after receipt of a Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost of this work is between $250,000.00 to $500,000.00. The solicitation shall be made available via the Internet on or about 1/6/03. No paper copies of the solicitation or any amendments subsequently issued will be available. Prospective bidders, subcontractors, and plan rooms are required to self-register t heir firm or office on the Internet to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the Internet at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Neither telephonic, mailed no r fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the mailing list. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
