Description

Description: Within the next 90 days, the National Park Service (NPS) intends to issue a prospectus inviting proposals to operate the principal park concession at Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, Alaska. The contract that will result will authorize the concessioner to provide the services described above. The term of the contract is proposed to be approximately 10 years, expiring on December 31, 2013. This is a summer seasonal operation with expected gross receipts of approximately $3.5 million in 2004, the first year of the new contract. Prior to issuing the prospectus, but in connection with it, the NPS is issuing an application for the purpose of determining which potential Offerors qualify for the statutory preferences (preferred operators) provided by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, Section 1307(b) and 36 CFR Part 13, Subpart D. Preferred operator "means a Native Corporation that is determined under 36 CFR Sec. 13.85 to be "most directly affected" by the establishment or expansion of a park area by ANILCA, or a local resident as defined in this subpart." (36 CFR 13.81(h)). To obtain a copy of the application, contact David Nemeth or Kevin Apgar, as shown above.
