- Work includes breaking up soil compaction using a bulldozer with implement. Implement used to break up compacted layer by shattering subsoil layer without churning and turning over the surface soil. General specifications: subsoil to depth of 20-24 inches; around landing piles; skid trails for 100 feet from the landing; haul roads and landing roads as identified; three-winged teeth will be used with a single pass on skid trails; three winged teeth will be used on landings with furrows no more than 3 feet apart; winged teeth will be used on areas with deep soil, straight teeth will be used on areas with many stumps or on rocky ground. Work will be completed before November 1,2002. Projects planned for reduction of soil compaction are located on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Contract time: 40 caledar days. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency. Numbered note 1 applies. It is estimated that this request for quotations will be available for downloading from FEDBIZOPPS approximately the latter part of JULY, 2002.
