- Description
- The HF Overtone (HFOT) demonstration effort directly supports S&T development on a schedule that provides an advanced midcourse discrimination capability for Block 2010 BMD weapon systems. Chemical Lasers provide the earliest capability for space lasers delivering sufficient power to targets for applications beyond illumination and active tracking. The Block 2010 capability would be limited in range, but subsequent scaling of the technology could provide a robust capability by Block 2016. This technology is currently unavailable.
