- Description
- Currently, the Gov’t has been managing integration of mission planning software developments and integration activities across multiple contractors and services. The rapid growth of dozens of concurrent Joint Mission Planning Systems (JMPS) software developments across the services has necessitated the requirement for managing and integrating the JMPS enterprise beyond the capabilities of the current Gov’t team. The SEIT concept for JMPS forms a distributed Gov’t & Contractor team to help manage the mission planning enterprise. The Government is currently preparing to award a contract to an independent Systems Engineering and Integration Contractor (SIEC) to enhance the Gov’t team to support the $500M+ of upcoming developments that begin in FY04. The SEIC will not have responsibility for mission planning systems delivered to the field, rather they will be responsible for integrating the common capabilities with each other as well as to the JMPS framework. Platform Unique Planning Component (UPC) developers will be responsible for their platform’s Mission Planning Environment that will include JMPS framework, common capabilities, and the platform Unique Planning Component (UPC).
