Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with spectra Physics Lasers, Inc., Mountain View, CA, for acquisition of one (1) WaveTrain-sc Frequency Doubler, to be used in an experiment developing quantum information processing with neutral atoms, in the Atomic Physics Division, at NIST.***** Installation at the NIST laboratory shall be included.*****A 12-month Warranty on parts and labor (90 days for optics and crystals) shall be included.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for a frequency doubling unit that meets the following specifications: (a) efficiency of >12%, to produce the necessary amount of second harmonic light; (b) continuous scan range of >35 GHz; and (c) extreme stability, essential for immunity from acoustic noise.*****Spectra Physics is the only known company able to meet all the required specifications and is thus uniquely qualified to fulfill the Government's needs.***** Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within eight (8) weeks or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by December 24, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
