Description
NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) is interested in partnering through a Space Act Agreement, on a no-cost basis, with a commercial firm that has experience in the replacement of engines and related accessories on aircraft. The intent is to produce the non-recurring engineering data package and first article prototype of a re-engined HU-25 aircraft such that the modified aircraft can be certified for flight by NASA in the Public Use category. NASA LaRC will loan an HU-25 (United States Coast Guard version of the Dassault Falcon 20 aircraft) to the commercial partner for them to replace the currently certified engines with different engines acceptable to NASA LaRC, the engines to be provided by the commercial partner, that can be certified for use on the HU-25. NASA will work with the commercial partner to certify the modified aircraft in the Public Use category. If all goals are met the following results are expected: The commercial partner will provide the Government, at no cost to the Government, a Government use data package for the replacement of the engines on the HU-25 with the agreed upon engines. The loaned HU-25 will be returned to its original condition and returned to NASA LaRC or, if NASA LaRC and the partner can arrive at an acceptable agreement, NASA LaRC may purchase by separate instrument the modifications and have the aircraft returned with the modifications. The commercial partner will own a proprietary data package that they may sell to non-federal Government users of the Dassault Falcon 20 for replacement of engines. Interested parties should send a brief summary of their experience in aircraft engine replacement, their proposed technical approach to meeting the objectives of this announcement, and any other pertinent information regarding their interest to Mr. Gerald Brown, Aviation Manger, NASA LaRC, Hampton Virginia. Mr. Brown's phone number is (757) 864-1073, the requested summary may be faxed to him at (757) 864-8549. Responses must be received by December 17, at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Note that proposals wishing to sell NASA LaRC the desired services are not being sought as NASA LaRC does not intend to contract for this project.
