- Description
- NASA/KSC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Vacuum Panel Engineering Design on the basis of a full and open competition. This Vacuum Panel Design is composed of three layers of vacuum cells. The vacuum panel is to be constructed of some type of rigid, lightweight material, must be vacuum tight, and must be able to withstand some level of transportation/handling loads. An area weight density of less than 0.30 lb/ft2 is desired. The design shall provide a vacuum port and all cells shall be vacuumed through this single port. More than one award might result from this required design, phase I. The fabrication of the Vacuum Panel, phase II, will be acquired later on as a sole source procurement based on the design that will be considered to be most advantageous to the Government. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541330 and $4,000,000, respectively. The DPAS code is DO C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 10-03-0008 is on or about December 3, 2002 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about December 19, 2002. All qualified responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
