Description

Solicitation N00421-032-T-0018 is issued as a request for quote (RFQ). The Government intends to purchase on a firm fixed price basis and to solicit and negotiate the proposed purchase order on a sole source basis with Harris Corp, RF-Communications Div., 1680 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14610 for 24 each part number RF-5710A-MD001 under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1. Harris Corp., RF-Communications Div. is the only company capable of providing the Data Modem that is approved by the sponsor and meets the minimum requirements set forth in the design review. Minimum salient characteristics of the required Data Modem are as follows: must utilize serial tones with Quaduature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) to quadruple the output of the HF modem, include additional processing power and memory to accommodate the new generation of 9600 bps adaptively equalized waveforms, provide adaptive excision filtering that can automatically remove up to four simultaneous interfering signals, and include convolutional error correction coding and Viterbi soft decision decoding at all data rates from 75 to 9600bps. The contract line item number and description is *** CLIN 0001: 9600 BPS HF/LF DATA MODEM (P/N: RF-5710A-MD001), QTY 24 EACH. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITVE PROPOSALS. However, the Government will consider all proposals received by 2 Dec 2002. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not pay for any information received.
