Description
"The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC command is seeking proven developers with extensive experience and facilities in place to improve M4 Selectable Lightweight Attack Munition (SLAM). A planned two and a half years, two-phase effort is estimated to include design, development, fabrication, and test the M4E1 Improved SLAM prototypes and fabrication and delivery of M4E1 hardware for the Production Qualification Test (PQT). Additionally, the contractor must develop, fabricate, and test prototype of the SLAM Improved Functional Trainer (SIFT), M320E1 and deliver the Trainers to the Government for the PQT. The SLAM improvement may include magnetic and Passive Infrared sensors, munition controls, electronic packaging, and warhead. Capability must include experience and facilities for development, laboratory and field-testing, failure analysis, and fabrication of the electronic and mechanical assemblies similar to the M4 SLAM. The developer must have experience with loading HE explosives into munitions. The contractor must utilize either their facility or a subcontract load facility for this purpose. Respondents should address their ability to perform M4E1 development, laboratory and field-testing, failure analyses, manufacturing and assembly operations; quality control, store parts and explosives; and to perform Load, Assembly, and Packaging(LAP) operations. Provide descriptive literature to substantiate your ability to meet all of the above requirements. Information in general to be submitted should include your organization name/address/point of contact identification, capabilities, facilities, successful experience in developing and producing munitions, inspection capability, and whether the company is a small or large business. Current M4 SLAM was developed by Alliant Techsystems, LLC under Contract DAAA21-90-C-0021 and than produced by Alliant Precision Fuze Company, LLC under Contract DAAE30-97-C-1056. All responding sources must submit their responses no later than 13 December 2002 to U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA -AQ-APA, David Etro, Contract Specialist), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000.
