- Description
- Contractor will provide Hepatitis C Supplemental Test Kits for examination of specimens for outbreak epidemiologic investigations. Kits must be able to detect the antibody to Hepatitis C virus and identify potential negative and positive sera. Test kits must be compatible with existing CDC Government automated equipment, i.e., Chiron RIBA Automated Processors. A requirements contract is contemplated with shipments to domestic locations (Atlanta, GA). The contract period shall be for one (1) base year with four (4) additional one (1) year options. Solicitation will be issued on approximately Nov. 15, 2002, to Chiron Corp., Emeryville, CA, on a sole source basis. Chiron is the only known source capable of furnishing kits of the Hepatitis C type compatible with above mentioned Government equipment. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), Justification: Supplies required are available from only one responsible source and no other type of supplies will satisfy agency requirements.
