- NA Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with University of Michigan to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Technology Applications Division in the development of nuclear detection technologies for use in arms control or counter terrorism regimes. The effort will result in better gamma radiation detectors required to support DTRA and the Defense Department missions. The objective of this requirement is to produce: portable, high resolution, highly efficient room temperature radi ation detectors capable of detecting and identifying special nuclear material. The Government anticipates a contract with University of Michigan for this research with a twelve (12) month period of performance. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPO SALS. Interested parties have forty-five (45) days from the date of publication of this Synopsis, to submit in writing, to the identified point of contact, their qualifications and/or capabilities. Such qualifications and/or capabilities will be used sol ely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after forty-five (45) days, or without the required information, will be non-responsive to this synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government not to conduct this effort as a full and open competitive procurement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
