- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst intends to solicit Aerosol Can Puncturing Systems to be used aboard US Navy ships. These systems will be used to puncture aerosol cans and then collect liquids drained from the punctured aerosol cans in a 55-gallon drum. The gas and vapor emitted from the punctured cans will be captured by a combination filter and/or removed from the operating area by a portable ventilation system (both also supplied as part of the resulting contract). This procurement includes "brand name or equal" component descriptions and also requires minor modification of some commercial equipment to meet Federal Government requirements. This contract type will include requirements for logistics data. This procurement will include options for up to 60 units spread over 5 years. This requirement will be fulfilled by supplying commercial items as defined in FAR section 2.1 The government will award a contract resulting from this will be most advantageous to the government considering technical, past performance, and price. A Request for Proposal #N68335-03-R-0011 will be posted at http://www.navair.navy.mil/doing_business/open_solicitations/ in approximately 3-4 weeks from the date of this synopsis.
