- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to Lester Slaback, Gaithersburg, MD, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The objective of this requirement is to review the current NBSR license documents with respect to radiation safety and protection and with respect to health physics issues to determine what changes are necessary to meet the current NRC requirements for license submission. This review shall include a review of all submissions from the NBSR to the NRC on file in the official docket. All work will be performed onsite. Mr. Slaback is uniquely qualified to perform this work as he is a certified Health Physicist with over twenty years of experience at research reactors. He was employed at NIST from 1980 to 2001, first in Laboratory Health Physics, then as head of Reactor Health Physics. He has detailed knowledge of all aspects of the administration, requirements and obligations of the Health Physics program at the reactor. The period of performance will be from date of award through January 31, 2003. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about 6 days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to the requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to complete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. For information, call the POC identified below.
