PRESOLICITATION NOTICE ? R4-IDAWY-08-03 MUSGROVE CREEK TRAIL CONSTRUCTION/RECONSTRUCTION SALMON-CHALLIS NATIONAL FOREST PURPOSE: Provide an opportunity for individuals to access the area on their own prior to the onset of winter. The solicitation is expected to be issued electronically in January or February 2002. SCOPE: The USDA Forest Service, IDAWY Acquisition Service Center intends to issue a solicitation for the Musgrove Creek Trail Construction/Reconstruction located in the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District on the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The trail project is approximately 6.5 miles in length, the majority of which will be constructed, and the remainder reconstructed. The contract will include clearing, excavation, drainage structures such as water bars and dips, stream and gully crossings, switchbacks, talus sections, aggregate surfacing and hazard tree removal. The project lies between 6000 and 7500 feet above sea level, and may be accessed on the lower end from Panther Creek Road and on the Upper end from the Bighorn Crags Road at Remenclau Saddle. This is not in the Wilderness; mechanized trail equipment will be permitted. SITE VISIT: There is no site visit scheduled. At the pre-bid meeting we may show photos of the existing trail, but there will not be a show-me trip as the project site will not be accessible during the winter. The trail is flagged and staked.
