- Description
- 11TH Contracting Squadron/LGCN, Bolling AFB DC, intends to award a simplified acquisition purchase request No. F8030002266600, a firm fixed-price contract to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), 2101 Constitution AVE NW, Washington, DC, 20418. This contract will provide a portion of funding in cooperation with other DoD agencies for technical resources to support nations cooperation in technology and engineering. NAS conducts Engineering Symposiums to bring together outstanding engineers ages 30-45 form industry, academia, and government labs and all engineering disciplines to learn about leading-edge developments in various engineering fields. The goal of the meetings is to foster the transfer of new techniques and approaches across fields, facilitate collaborative work, and establish a network among the next generation of engineering leaders. NAS is uniquely qualified to organize and convene this meeting because of its stature in the engineering field. NAS is a non-profit agency and was created under Statutory authority 36 U.S.C. Section 253 and confirmed by E.O. 12832, January 19,1993 'When a department or agency of the executive branch of the Government determines that the Academy, because of expertise, independence, objectivity, and audience acceptance necessary to meet the department's or agency's program requirements, acquisition or services by the Academy may be obtained on a noncompetitive basis if otherwise in accordance with aplicable law and regulations.' This is Sole Source requirement in accordance with FAR 6.302-3 (ii), Authority is 10 USC 2304 (c)(3)and Statutory authority 36 U.S.C. Section 253 and confirmed by E.O. 12832, January 19,1993.
