- Description
- This announcement constitutes a Request for Information (RFI). The Air Force plans to use Falcon Flex Program procedures to replace the existing MFD Power Supply with a more reliable, longer life power supply that carries a ten-year warranty. The Falcon Flex program encourages the procurement of items using performance-based acquisition specifications vice build-to-print requirements. This procurement will be based on the "best value" to the government, not necessarily lowest procurement cost. This power supply will incorporate state-of-the-art technology and be compatible with existing hardware and software interfaces in order to maintain form, fit, function and interface equivalence. The information in this RFI is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting a market survey of industry to identify potential contractors who have the skills, experience, and knowledge required to successfully complete this effort for Hill AFB, Utah. This is not a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bid. We are seeking contractors who are interested in designing and manufacturing a high reliability power supply using modern technology rather than following traditional build to print requirements. The F-16 Logistics Operations Division has a requirement for a minimum of 1,000 units. The new power supply will replace the current power supply (NSN 6130-01-228-3829, P/N 8001285-922). Interested parties are requested to submit two copies of a summary of the capabilities and facilities they have which will allow them to perform the development and manufacture of the new power supply. A rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimate and an estimate of the anticipated time between contract award and first flight article delivery are solicited as an aid in the budgeting process. The cost and schedule estimates are for planning purposes only and the contractor will not be bound by these preliminary estimates. This RFI does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that a procurement will be accomplished. The government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Written responses must be submitted by 4 November 2002 to OO-ALC/LGKE, ATTN: Cheryl Dumas, 6072 Fir Ave, and Hill AFB, UT 84056-5820. A top-level drawing set describing the current power supply is available. For answers to technical questions regarding this effort, please contact Mr. Charles Williams at (801) 777-7393, e-mail charles.williams@hill.af.mil or Mr. Charles Reveal at (801) 775-2623, e-mail charles.reveal@hill.af.mil. For answers to contractual questions, or to obtain the top-level drawing set of the current power supply, which is available for reference, please contact Ms. Cheryl Dumas at (801) 777-5777, e-mail cheryl.dumas@hill.af.mil.
