- Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), operated by UT-Battelle, LLC under Contract Number DE-AC05-00OR22725 with the Department of Energy, solicits interest from companies which may desire to obtain license rights to commercialize the following technology. LandScan USA is a global population distribution model that solves the problems associated with distributing Census-derived population data within Census-derived population cells, distributing both rural and suburban population data, and distributing population data over day-night scenarios. LandScan USA may be of value to companies that provide demographic analysis services or software or to companies that routinely need state-of-the-art population analysis. Any company interested in licensing this technology must respond with a letter of interest (can be email) to this Notice, summarizing the company's business and technical expertise and motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Companies deemed able to adequately commercialize the technology will be provided with additional information on the technology. Such information may require an executed Nondisclosure Agreement. Respondents wishing to enter into negotiations for a commercial license will be required to submit a business plan for the commercialization of the technology prior to licensee(s) selection and negotiations.
